History
The JOLLY GOOD SAM chapter was formed and
charted by the TEXAS GOOD SAM CLUB in 1977.A number of members of the RAMBLING
SAMS chapter formed the new club so that outings could be held during the week
instead of on week ends, as most GOOD SAM chapters do. This resulted in the
JOLLY GOOD SAMS chapter being the first retiree chapter in Texas. Outings are
held from Monday thru Thursday on the third week of each month which doubled the
days of the outings and left Sundays to member preferences.
There were 11 charter member couples in the new chapter and Ben Wilson was
the first President.
